Hello
BABS BALOGUN
I’m a graduate of Film production with honours and I also achieved a Masters degree in Interactive Multimedia. I took up photography initially as a hobby while I was in university and I soon became passionate about it.
I indeed went into photography that I enjoyed being a wedding photographer for 11 years but my passion was always motorsports.
I did motorsport photography for 4 years enjoying various race tracks around the UK and Europe.
My Story
It was while I was studying the Film degree that a lecturer introduced me to photography and I haven’t looked back since then.
I started with Wedding photography I did for over a decade before I went into Motorsport photography which took me to different tracks around Europe and The UK.
Unfortunately the beginning of the 2020 motorsport season was cancelled due to the pandemic and it was the Autumn of 2020 that I discovered Light Painting. I participated in a workshop with The Royal Photographic Society in November 2020 and six months later I decided to open a studio called Cre8fotos, so I could bring this genre to the mass.
Cre8fotos has grown over the past few years and we have done events in camera clubs and also a light painting session in the Cadman Studio last year. We were also invited by Sunderland City Council to light paint the public for their Christmas light on last Christmas.
In August 2022, I was approached by Light painting lecturer at The Royal Photographic Society to replace her as she was going into retirement. I have now been teaching light painting since September last year at the All Saints Media Centre in Hanley.
I am also the brand ambassador for Ants on a Melon Inc. An American company that produces flash lights and light painting tools.
Both roles have been a privilege and a pleasure to participate in.
